On March 30, 2024, the community gathered on Mass Ave. to support Vernon T. Bateman as he unveiled his three new “Eclipse Murals” outside of The District Theatre that he gifted to the community, as well as two new paintings for sale and on display at The Frame Shop.
The video not only showcases Bateman’s exceptional artistry, but highlights his resilience and optimism in the campaign for his exoneration. Bateman’s optimism is based on the widespread support he has from his friends, family, and the community at large, which you can see, hear, and read through the words of his sister, Nora Bateman, and friend and colleague Derek Ford. As Vernon Bateman discusses the significance of the murals, his dedication to community and creativity, connection to his heritage, and commitment to justice is clear.
